Kevin A. Coles, Member

Kevin Coles is the senior and founding partner of the Firm.  The son of the late former Superior Court Judge and Connecticut Attorney General, Albert L. Coles, Kevin graduated from Georgetown University in 1970 with his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on earn his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Houston where he was awarded the Order of Barons, American Jurisprudence Award. In 1974, Kevin was admitted to practice in both the Connecticut Superior Court and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He was admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court in 1977 and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit in 1979. Kevin is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the Bridgeport Bar Association, where he served as former Chairmen of the Civil Litigation Committee.

Kevin has practiced law concentrating in insurance defense, personal injury, civil litigation, and municipal and business representation.  Kevin has represented insurance carriers' interests on coverage matters relating to professional malpractice issues and has been appointed as an arbitrator and mediator in resolving complex civil disputes.

Kevin was lead defense counsel in the L'Ambiance Plaza litigation including having a crucial role in mediation, major complex multiparty litigation (especially in federal court) as well as ERISA litigation, declaratory judgment actions, and bad faith actions involving insurance carriers.

Kevin continues to serve as an Arbitrator in the Connecticut Superior Court and as a Special Master in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He also does Pro Bono work for the Connecticut Justice Foundation for children. 


James T. Baldwin, Member

Jim Baldwin graduated from George Washington University in 1987 with his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1990. In 1990, Jim was admitted to practice in both the Connecticut Superior Court and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. In 2007 James was admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.  Jim served as Town Attorney for the Town of Fairfield from 1999-2001. Heis a member of the Connecticut Bar Association (Litigation, Labor & Employment and Workers' Compensation sections), and is an Executive Board Member of Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Mr. Baldwin has practices law with a concentration in Workers' Compensation for a variety of corporations and municipalities.  He is also a litigation and appellate advocate for small businesses, corporations and municipalities as well as for individuals in federal court concerning business transactions, insurance coverage, declaratory relief, personal injury, land use, intellectual property and municipal law.

Mr. Baldwin has appellate experience before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Connecticut Supreme Court, the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Compensation Review Board (the appellate division of the state Workers' Compensation Commission) in addition to appeals and submissions before numerous state administrative agencies and commissions. He also serves as counsel to several municipalities and small and mid-size corporations on matters concerning general municipal law and commercial transactions, including contract formation and negotiation with Fortune 500 companies.

James has been awarded the Very High Rating by Martindale-Hubbell's Peer Review in both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards.


John B. Kaiser, Member

John Kaisergraduated from New York University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from The American University- Washington College of Law in 1991. John is licensed to practice in both the Connecticut Superior Court and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He is also licensed to practice in the state and federal courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Serving as the Managing Member of the Firm, John has substantial experience providing civil litigation defense to Fortune 500 clients as well as local, small businesses requiring superior representation with experienced counsel. He also represents individuals throughout the State including those referred from national Christian organizations.

In addition to his civil litigation experience, John acts as General Counsel for small to mid-size technology and Internet-based companies across the United States. Having co-founded an internet start up company which was sold to a now global advertising agency, he has deep-rooted experience in forming, growing, managing and selling companies large and small.

A former member of an administrative appeals tribunal with the United States Department of Justice, John has substantial experience representing both corporations and individuals in employment matters.  He has developed a word-of-mouth reputation for negotiating and executing both complex employment agreements and separation agreements with executives and their employers.  

More locally, Mr. Kaiser was selected as "Best of Fairfield County" in 2016 where he attempts to leverage his broad national and corporate experience to benefit local Connecticut residents with their own unique legal needs. This includes representation for individuals in domestic relations matters and certain and select personal injury claims.

John has a national independent rating of Distinguished and Very High as rated by members of the Bar and the Judiciary for both legal ability and ethical standards.
